REFORM! Thu Oct 14 + music connections post

Charles & I are back on Thursday for our pre-1st birthday party!
In real terms we've just started walking...but seriously, who would have though a couple of DJs playing the kind of way out stuff we play (for JHB anyway) would still be doing it after a year?

So that DJ mix I've been promising is going to be a birthday present. Check out the next post.

We're also planning a Saturday party for our 1st birthday for all the people where a Thursday night is difficult to attend. More with the next post.

This months music post is a little off the regular REFORM! hits fare.
I recently purchased the Thai Beat a Go-Go Vol.1 album. It's all 60's Thai garage bands doing covers and some original stuff all influenced by western garage and pop of the time.

Two stood out clearly as inspiration for other tracks:

Check out the intro of 'Kratae' and the start of Sonic Youth's 'Creme Brulee'. Uncanny!
Twin Peaks's 'Dance of the dream man' owes much to 'Phom Rak Khoon Tching Thing'

I'm off to get Vol,2 now
