INDIEBLEEP sleeve

A little under a year ago, the idea for INDIEBLEEP came into being.
It finally sees a release in October 2010 after much chopping, changing and clearance denials.

The album was mixed live in one go (but the 6th take!) at home with a pair of CDJs borrowed from Charles Leonard and represents a typical set from the last year.
Although most DJ mix compilations are mixed beat perfect using software, I could not bring myself to even consider the option. It had to be authentic...read: not altogther perfect!
On a good night, beat mixing is an accident as it's not really a requirement for the music. Since moving on from Cellardoor in 2007, I've found that dancier music has become more prominent in my sets and it's become fun to try and mix properly.
My very first steps in DJing was at a gay club (ex HEAVEN which become THE DOORS) where I worked the lights. Andrew Wood, the resident DJ and person responsible for mixing the HIGH ENERGY compilations, taught me how to mix. It was all SL1200 turntables and vinyl in those days.

INDIEBLEEP was a word I made up to use on flyers to describe what I play at most parties - a combination of indie/alternative and dancey remixes. Depending on the crowd I play more or less of the dance.

This is the final tracklisting and running order:

kidofdoom Notare
The Horrors Scarlet Fields
TV On The Radio Staring at the sun (Diplo remix feat. afrika bambaataa)
Amanda Blank Shame On Me (Yuksek Remix)
White Lies Farewell To The Fairground (Rory Phillips White Horse Mix)
Headman Dirt (The C90s Remix)
The Units High Pressure Days (Rory Phillips Remix)
Vampire Weekend The Kids Don't Stand A Chance (Chromeo Remix)
Passion Pit To Kingdom Come (Grum Vocal Mix)
Friendly Fires On Board
Santogold L.E.S. Artistes (Ooh Ee Remix)
Wolfmother White Feather (B U R N S Remix)
Digitalism Pogo (Beni's Re Edit Re Work Re Mix +)

Yeah Yeah Yeahs Heads Will Roll (A-Trak Remix)

Although this is my 3rd compilation, It's the first one I've ever mixed

And yeah, I'm a bit of a Rory Phillips fan...
